We’ve Always Been a ‘B’ Corp – Now We’ve Made It Official

Plan B is Now a Certified B-Corp Company

For years, we’ve been a model of efficiency within the advertising and marketing industry, with long-practiced waste-reducing measures in place and a socially progressive, highly inclusive company culture.

While any company could just SAY that, we’re excited to actually make our mindset of global responsibility and corporate citizenship with official B-Corp status.

Why? Because the world we’ll be sharing tomorrow depends on the choices we make today – and there is no Planet B. We believe making a certified commitment to a more sustainable future is simply the right thing to do, so we’ve done it. Just as we’ve been doing it … living and working by the values of transparency, equity, efficiency and inclusion since we first started.

So, What Exactly is B Corp Certification?

B Corporation status is a certification awarded to for-profit businesses that are driven by a social mission. In a nutshell, it means that a company is dedicated to using its profits as a means for positively impacting its employees, community, and the environment.

This socially driven commitment is verified by B Lab, the nonprofit governing body that formally ensures “B Corps” are meeting high standards of performance, accountability, and transparency on factors that can range from employee benefits and charitable giving to supply chain practices and input materials.

Why is B-Corp Certification Important?

As mentioned, any business can say that they want to be a force for good and help drive a more sustainable and equitable future for our planet.

But earning B-Corp certification proves that a company isn’t just talking the talk. It means that it’s actually living up to specific commitments in the drive to promote positive change.

Certified B Corps are recognized leaders in the global movement for an inclusive, equitable, and regenerative economy. For an agency like Plan B, it means being a better employer, a better corporate neighbor, and a better partner to clients, many of whom are navigating these same issues as they seek to optimize and share their own sustainability efforts.

Having B-Corp status can also provide an assortment of other benefits for companies, such as building greater trust with consumers, communities, and partners, attracting and retaining top-quality employees, and appealing to similarly mission-aligned clients.

Looking to B Part of the Future

One of the most notable aspects of certification is that B Corps are required to undergo the verification process every three years in order to re-certify. So, by definition, a designated B Corp is focused on continuous improvement – which leads to long-term resiliency and a greater measure of success for a business.

B-Corp certification is also holistic by design – not exclusively focused on a single social or environmental issue. As a full-service agency proud of our diverse client roster across a wide array of industries, that appeals to us, and we’re proud to position B-Corp status as our North Star. Because whether it means adopting better business practices, implementing better policies or sourcing better partners, “better” will aways begin with “B.”

We’ve now completed our journey from B to “B Corp,” but for our agency’s mission it’s just the beginning. Stay tuned for more, and B well.
